Very Disappointing!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well today I am 1 day away from being 4 weeks post op. I went to my gyn doctor today and talked to her about BC. I was so excited to go to get weighed and I was totally surprised, I had gained 4 pounds.apathetic.gif Man I was so disappointed. I know I have been exercising 3-4 times a week anywhere from 30-40 mins a day. hopeful.gif

I am thinking I have gained muscle, but man Im still very disappointed. I was hoping to have lost some weight, but instead I gained. I know I am doing everything I am suppose to and I cant wait to get my fill on 10/01, that way I will have some restrictions with my band. The more restriction I have the less I will eat, and the more weight I will loose.

My question "Is this normal??" I mean to gain weight while we are suppose to be losing. I wonder if my band has slipped....Im trying to figure out whats wrong and I am so worried. This band is a tool, but I never expected to gain. I total understand that all scales are different, but thats too much of a difference. I know I have read some posts on here and I feel like im in the same boat as others.

Still VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!

It could also be the scales on the Gyn office are off too. I always seem to weigh more at my Gyn. Also, you could be just retaining a bit of Water since you are working out too. Don't get too worked up about it. I am sure those pounds will be gone in a few more days.

YES, (which is a very good thing) I can tell by other things like when I walk on my treadmill I can now walk at 3 mph at incline of 3, where before I couldnt get to over 2.5 and I can keep my balance on my treadmill with my weights ( I use 3 & 5 pound weights). While walking I do any kind of exercise I can think of with my arms. I can tell that my wedding band is very loose. I will need to get a ring guard soon. The best part is I can tell that my cothes are getting really loose and baggy. So yes I can tell Im losing inches, but I want the weight part as well.

Its just great to hear other people (besides family/friends) who are going through the same thing as me, say its ok, dont worry about the scales, take all the victories you can get... So im going too. Thanks I really needed the encouragement.

Hi - I was banded a little over 2 weeks ago, and only lost 1 pound when I weighed in at the doctor's office. I have been following the post-op diet faithfully. I asked the doctor what was wrong, and she said that only about 25% of patients lose weight immediately. 25% stay the same and 50% gain weight, especially once you start eating mushy food. She explained that my body might be holding on to the weight after the shock of losing 10 pounds on the pre-op liquid diet. She even said that some patients don't lose any weight until after their first fill.

I have been noticing that my rings are looser, and I have more room in my clothes. I'm trying to maintain a good attitude, although I do get discouraged when I read posts about people losing 20 pounds the first month. I have to keep thinking that I'm in it for the long haul.

The weight has to come off eventually, it just does! Good Luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
