Loridee's journey: 4 weeks from today

Recommended Posts

4 weeks from today I go in for my extended Tummy Tuck (both vertical and horizontal incision) and a breast lift. And this morning, for the first time in my adult life, I hit the 100's (okay 198.5, but still, there's a one in front of it ). I am so excited because I feel like the last year and a half of hard work is really paying off.

Having said that, for those of you that have been there, what are the must have recovery aides I should be buying. I've heard wedge pillow and toilet seat riser. ANything else? Also, if any of you have done the research, is makemeheal really the cheapest place to get these.

I am so excited to be joining all of you in this next stage of weight loss, and after surgery I will share both before and after pics.

I look forward to any recommendations you may have!

Lori: I guess you are going the day before me. Dr. Saltz's office called and changed my date to the 15th. I haven't shopped around but I really like Makemeheal. I would get arnica, crackers and lo-cal puddings and some ice packs. Makemeheal has some nice ones that are made for the procedures you are having, but any ice packs will be helpful. I'd also stock up on some movies you've been wanting to watch. I'll post more when I think of it.

Congratulations on your upcoming date. I know how exciting that is. I got a toilet seat riser at Wal-Mart for $21. I didn't need it after all so I ended up returning it.

Thanks everyone! I can't believe it's less than 3 weeks. Ahhhhhh! I am excited and terrified.

Karey - I'm so happy for you being on your last round. Hopefully we'l run into each other at the Dr.'s and meet

Lori: Dr. Saltz is wonderful, you'll be in good hands! You're going to love having a flat stomach. It's now one of life's little joys for me! Try not to get too nervous, it's all good!

I did not get an unfill and had some issues with swelling and pressure on my band. I got a pill stuck about 5 days out of surgery and had to get a complete unfill. My band doc said I wouldn't need an unfill before my PS and so I went on her advice. I think it's about 50-50 on the unfill. If I were you, I would get a slight unfill. This time around I am not at the perfect spot and I'm leaving it that way until after I heal. My experience is that that will be better.

I had an unfill in May and have actually been slightly underfilled since, so I wasn't planning on having another unfill. I really haven't had much in the way of restriction, and can take tylenol, etc... without issue. If I were at my sweet spot, I wouldn't definately be having an unfill.

I had a slight unfill in August, PS in september. I had pretty good restriction going into this (like a slight tad under sweet spot) and I have had some minor problems at night trying to eat when I am a little swollen and the binder is on really tight. I am still only about 11 days out from PS but this has been my experience - I would not get too much unfilled because my appetitte is already back and I am glad that I have restriction.

Loridee, I'm having the same Tummy Tuck as you on the 23rd, along with breast implants. so far I have ordered a Wedge pillow only. I am thinking of renting a recliner for my house, but have been putting it off.

And I have not had an unfill and don't plan on it as I only have 4.5 cc and am not very tight at all. my last fill was Feb 26th.

I did buy the special breast ice packs and the tummy ones. I liked and used the tummy ones. I didn't find the breasts ones that helpful, because there was so much padding over the breasts that the ice didn't penetrate very well. Ice does help and probably any kind of ice packs would work.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
