wow, I know i'm gaining back weight that I had lost pre op. I evacuated for hurricane ike. I can't go home yet & i'm stress eating. the damage to my home wasn't too bad, what has me freaked out is thfact that the hardest hit area of houston is where my dr's office was at. I know i'm selfish when I say this but I'm eating too much & worried that I won't be able to get my first fill for a few months cause of all the damage. I also have limited internet access which is driving me nuts. pls pray 4 me to quit eating my comfort foods. I need this surgery 2 work. I feel like its my last hope at losing weight & being healthy. thanks

Oh Nena that sucks!! I hope everything works out for you. Is it possible to find somewhere near where you are now that could at least do a fill?

Nena, I'm so sorry that you're having to go through all of that. Good news about your house! Now! STOP EATING!!! Go take a walk or something. Get back on track and use this time to your advantage. Make lists of what needs to be done when you get back home. Go to a nearby park and walk the paths. Find something to keep you busy so you aren't thinking of food all the time. If possible, your doctor's office is already thinking about it's patients so try not to stress on that. Besides, there isn't a thing you can do about it so no use wasting energy on it! Take good care of yourself. Best wishes!!

Nena, I think the most incredible thing is that you you're trying the best you can to eat only 1000-1200 cals per day! You are definitely in my prayers. You are sticking to it and are determined to do this, and that is great!!!! =)

I would say keep it on the 1200 end-you will be fuller and still be within your allowed limits.

This whole thing is a process that comes in stages--we are past the first part with the post-surgery pain, now it's that in between time til the first fill. For me, that hunger is horrible and I can get down easily and wonder if this really is going to work. .

I was hungry all the time too-had my first fill this week and I can see a big diff. already, even though I will need another fill to really get that satisfied feeling with the small amounts of food.

Hang in there! We are all in this together! =)

kimberly it is actually a little under a cup , it is one of those ramekins, the ones you make creme burlee in, they hold 200ml, or just a little over 3/4 of a cup, i have that 3 times a day, and then for a snack after work, which is when i find i am really starving i have been having a Protein Soup. i have only been banded just over 1 month, and i find that this is more than enough for me, i make sure that i have protein, with each meal. take care

You know, I went to the Dr. last week for my first fill and referenced to the nurse that I felt nothing, etc. She told me "You have the hammer, now you need to get the nails". That made perfect sense to me. We have the tool. Now we need the fills to make it work. Once you start getting some restriction things will be better. Thats what I'm holding on to. I got NO restriction from that first fill. So, now I do my best and wait for another "nail".

Hope that analogy helps someone else as much as it did me.

Hi Everyone - Hang in there & keep getting fills as often as possible until you reach you're sweet spot. I was banded on 6/24/08 and it wasn't until the middle to end of August when I had my 3rd fill brining me up to 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band.

I think I went into shock after my last fill, as I finally felt the constriction everyone's been talking about. If I eat too fast (forget it) - I've been listening to my body - one day I can eat something without any difficulties - the next day same item and i'm done after a bite.

I do my best not to eat between meals - but most nights I do have some fat free pudding.

gottta run

Good luck

Sharon

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
