I was banded on 4th April this year. I have had 5 fills in an 10mls band taking me up to 7.5mls. I have restriction after my fills for about a week and that is why I have lost any weight at all. I lose about a kilo or 2 in that week and then in the time up till my next fill I put a kilo or so back on. I am really worried I am getting to the max my band can take and I wont have proper restriction longer than the week or so. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone get close to the max fill before reaching good restriction? Also does anyone else have restriction for a week or so after their fills and then it goes away?

Is it true that the big bands are suppose to be put in ppl with BMIs over 50? My BMI was around 42 or so when banded so maybe that is why I am having trouble getting restriction?? Oh I dont know....I am just stressing and need some reassurance from ppl who have been through this. Please let me know if you have.

Thanks

I don't have the larger band, but I had the same thing, get a fill it lasts for a few days and goes away. I got my 6th fill last week, and I am finally getting some restriction. My doctor told me not to worry, I will get to that spot soon. I think this time I am finally on my way!

My doctor's office uses the larger band on all his patients now, he said he gets better results with the larger band, so you just need to be patient and they will get you there. Just make sure you keep eating Protein, veggies, and you will be fine.

Good Luck!

hi

Keep it up Kellie.

I think you are doing well. From 118 to 105 is great.

I also lost a few after my fill (only had one and 1,5ml.dont know if he put any in when he banded me..) and then it stalls for a while.

Youll get there.Hope this fill does it for you..

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
