Need advice

Recommended Posts

:w00t:Hello everyone, I went through a program caalled "Lap Bands for Less" and had my surgery done in Dallas, TX. I live in Michigan and am experiencing no restrictions when I eat and have not lost any weight since the surgery on Feb.8,2008. My physician here in MI recently did an upper GI and claims that the band itself is not properly placed and needs to be redone. I paid cash for my surgery in Dallas because they were $6000.00 cheaper than in MI. Dr. Allan Cribbins performed my surgery and has looked over my results of my gi and claims that everything is fine, so why am I not losing weight, and at least not having any food restrictions? Michael Stamper is the person who set me up for my surgery and needless to say I am having a very difficult time trying to communicate with him about my concerns. I am at aloss as to what my next steps should be and frustrated totally. I certainly feel I should not have to pay another $11,000.00 for it to be fixed. Everyday I become more and more depressed. Has anyone gone through this same problem, and if so, can you give some much needed advice as to what I do now?

Frustrated in MI

Good question, do you have any fills? I would seek a 3rd opinion asap. I too live in MI and you could always check out Dr. Nunn at the Barix clinic in ypsilanti. 1/734/547/1060 or 1/800/282/0066. People from all over come to this hospital. Bariatric surgery is all they do. There are several Drs at this location. Give them a call. Keep us posted.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
