I lost 50 pounds, then I lost all accountability!!

Recommended Posts

Is 50 lbs the magic number? The threshold that I am forbidden to pass? I lost 50 lbs with Weight Watchers a couple years ago, and then the wheels fell off! Now, again, I cannot pass that number on the scale. Something has switched off. I have been breaking all the eating rules and pretty much pretending I don't have a band. I called and scheduled my third fill 2 weeks from today, hoping that will motivate me and get me over this hump. I am also able to eat way to much and I need my little friend to offer a stern reminder that I have had WLS!!! After everything I have gone through, I am monumentally disappointed in myself. The only positive thing I can say is I am still exercising at least a couple of times a week, and I haven't gained. Somebody, give me the kick in the ass that I so desperatley need!

ME TOO! 50 seems to be a curse to me. It's when I truly feel a difference and start to think I'm "cute" and so, I let myself be a little more lenient. Pound by pound it creeps back and voila! I am starting all over again. boooo!

I am getting a fill this Thursday and am going to recommit myself for getting the rest OFF! Join me!

Here's the kick in the ass part (and I am listening to myself)--We took a major step to change our lives and our health. This is the rest of our lives...and now, that life can be a long one. The band and all of the rules are not PUNISHMENT--they are the REWARD!! You gave yourself a GIFT. Why? Because YOU are so worth it and deserve everything good. It's going to be better than you even dreamed about.

Look for all of the NSV, no matter how small. Make a list! Today I realized that the "shelf" on top of my tush is GONE!

Jump back on the bandwagon, TX. We're here to pull you up.

I am at the same 60 pounds now for two weeks. I am not panicking yet, but my parents, who see me on the weekends and have been accustomed to my 1-2 pound a week loss, watched me like a hawk this weekend. When I didn't eat Sunday until 3PM, I got the lecture that I won't lose weight by not eating, blah, blah. I then explained to them yet again, that I am not eating if I am not hungry. Not because I want to starve to lose weight.

So this morning, called the doctors office, I have a visit scheduled for September 12th anyway, but asked about not being hungry all day. Plain and simple, was told to not force myself to eat. If I am not hungry then I am not hungry. She did tell me to start the food journal again just to see what I have been eating.

I think your mom is right you need to eat to lose weight so start your journey. Don't forget to drink all your Water.

Two characteristics of people who maintain weight loss are regular exercise and journaling their food. It's what we gotta do every day for the rest of our lives. The Band does not change that!

The thing I find scarey is that it is always a higher weight that I seem satisfied with. It cannot be about the weight it has to be about the eating plan and exercise. Good luck to us all!

Good grief . . . if I step on that scale tomorrow and it does not say that I've lost 50 pounds, I might lose my mind. I am stuck at -49. I was stuck at -47 for 2 weeks. I am journaling, exercising. I walked 7 miles today -- fast, too.

I have a body wrap (the good kind, not the dehydrating kind) scheduled for Friday. My aunt thinks it may give me a little kickstart again. We shall see.

I am stuck at 43 pounds. The last few days I am eating the wrong things, I am eating little little portions but munching in evening which is so wrong. The one good thing is that I am running 3km everyday and walking 5km every second day . .. so every second day I am coving 8 km. If I could only get this munchy thing under control!

Plateaus are from the devil, but you can get through it! Don't think about it for a week or so, put your scale away and relax your mind. After that week get back on the horse with refreshed determination, I know you can do it! Remember that's 50 pounds GONE and that ROCKS! Congratulations!

I got stuck at 21 pounds off 4 days before my surgery, and now 3 weeks after I've only lost another 3 pounds so I'm right in the frustration boat with you. We will get there!

Alright fellow banders!

I'm not good at heeding my own advice so I feel a little hypocritical in saying this:

Won't we feel stupid if we put all this energy, money, suffering through each stage just to have a useless piece of plastic just sitting there for no good reason because we've thrown in the towel??

Dig deep, I know you are all savvy, intelligent, sexy and determined - together we can do this!!

Go Team!

I certainly know how you feel!!! I am stuck at 70 pounds and the scale just won't move!!! I seem to be loosing inches, though, so I guess that's good!!! But personally, it does me good to see pounds lost, ya know? I had my third fill two weeks ago and for the first time have had some trouble with solid foods - they get stuck and hurt like hell!!!! So, I have been sticking to mushies again and thought I would loose some weight, but to no avail!!! Am starting to introduce more solid foods and that seems to keep me satisfied more!!! So, I'm with you, this really stinks!!! Hopefully we can get back on track. But, I was really glad to read your message and to see that I'm not in this alone!!! Thanks!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
