We can have liquids for the first two weeks. I plan on buying different kinds of broth, crystal light, sugar free popcicles, all kinds of sugar free Jello and any other tasty liquids...i know it sounds boring...im scared of that too...i havent been banded yet either but...from what ive heard we wont be that hungry anyways and just a little will fill us up. Once we get through that first two weeks we can go on soft foods such as apple sauce, cottage cheese, egg drop Soup, and anything pureed. It will be ok.

Did your doctor or dietician not give you and kind of diet to follow? Goodness! At minimum you should go to www.lapband.com and check out their recommendations.

First of all dear, turn that frown upside down. You are doing something brave and fantastic. It is scary, but it is also exciting isn't it? Yay, for you.

Second, you need to make sure that your Dr gives you guidelines to follow after the surgery. Call his office and ask, they might hand out a packet when it's time for you to go home. It will ease your mind to know now, you should call the office.

Stock up on broths and Clear Liquids because that is what you will probably be on the first two weeks at least.

Maybe some disolvable gas x. protien powders, etc. But the best thing to do is call the Dr's office so you will be better prepared.

Good luck tomorrow! I am sure your doctor will give you a list of what to eat. Before you go "under" make sure you ask him. I have found each doctor has a different diet. Mine had me on clear fluids for 2 days after and then introduced Protein Drinks and other liquids for the next 2 weeks.

The first 10 days after surgery, before I saw my surgeon post op, he allowed Clear Liquids, jello's, sf ff puddings, yogurts and Protein Shakes. While I was in the hospital the same day of surgery the nurse brought me sf ff pudding and yogurt. After my post surgical visit with him (day 10) I was allowed "mushies" which consisted of cottage cheese, oatmeal, egg whites or egg beaters, cream of wheat, tuna, cooked chicken turkey or fish(all meats need to be blended) cream Soups, mashed potatoes, winter squash, some canned veggies and fruits and a pureed banana. Next week I get to introduce more foods and the meats do not need to be blended any more. :thumbup:I have had no problems at all with this diet and have lost 20 lbs since surgery on 7/29. Good luck to you~

GOOD LUCK!! Your doctor or diatician should have given you guidelines for what they want you to drink/eat during the first 6 weeks of post banding. Call your doctor, it seems like everyone in here has different guidelines! If not, definitely look in here for a list of things to purchase before surgery!

Happy banding!!

Terri

I was banded aug.19th and today was my first day back to work. I brought with me yogurt, cream Soup, I also had cream of wheat with pureed banannas or even babyfood and I also got these drinks from bolthouse farms they are soy Protein and each 8oz has 10g of protein they are really great tasting perfectly protein vanilla chai is my favorite they taste great and with your band you are not that hungry at all I have lost 4lbs ind 6 days. You can find them next to the odwalla drinks in your grocery store. The pain wasn't so bad but i would stay in bed for at least 3 days you will be suprised how much you actually use your stomach muscles throughout the day. I am happier than ever that I got my band loving life and loving my band.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
