Anyone not like fruits & vegetables?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that had been banded and doesn't like many fruits or vegetables? The only vegetables I like are the starchy ones (peas, corn, & potatoes) and not many fruits. What are you eating after your Protein? I know they say to eat your protein first, then vegetables, but what if you don't really like any good fruits or vegetables? Thanks!

I was banded about 2 1/2 months ago. I used to be a meat and potatoes gal who never ate much veggies. Now I am finding that I like to try new veggies and fruit. Today I had a fresh peach and I can't remember EVER doing that before! I have been starting out with little things, maybe a slice of Tomato on a hamburger, or diced tomatoes in a small taco. Theres still lots I haven't tried but every trip to the store i look for something new to try. If I don't like it, I just wont buy it again.:biggrin2: The only thing I have found that disagrees with me is lettuce. For some reason that gives me diarrhea. Just start trying things and see what you like; you might like some things you thought you never would. Lots of people in here have said that after banding, their taste preferences changed. Its fun and exciting to find healthy stuff you actually like!

Most veggies (especially the green ones :present:) are not my friends . The only veggies I like are corn & potatoes and occasionally carrots (as long as they're not cooked) ... Although I try to steer clear of corn & potatoes these days because of their high carb count, sometimes I do allow myself maybe 1/4 - 1/2 Cup when I make them for my family. Another option of something to eat after your Protein is cottage cheese, if you like it. I find it goes well with beef or chicken and hey, it's more protein! :Banane34:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
