More Therapy required before moving forward...

Recommended Posts

Well I got a letter in the mail yesterday that stated that I can't move forward now because they found a notation in my records from last December that I was having frequent panic attacks.. I was, but it was because I had been stranded in my house since breaking my leg in August 07.. I hadn't been able to even go to a store without someone with me because I couldn't carry anything up/or down the stairs. It was Christmas time and we were totally financially screwed because I hadn't been able to work full time because of the swelling.. The nurse practitioner was Po'd at me because I wouldn't take anti depressants because they make the panic worse, among other things. I ended up getting through it on my own for the most part, and started going to physical therapy and the gym.. I got through it and have only had one panic attack since then.. it was situational.. I'm not opposed to the therapy but when I left the Dr.s office after the eval we were good with me just going to a therapist and continuing on.. which I did, and have a second appointment set up for this week. I was given some materials to read over about the different type of thoughts that bring on panic and most of them have nothing to do with what I was feeling. I was stranded and lonely.. My "friends" who were with me when I broke my leg had abandoned me.. I hadn't been able to do anything fun with my kids in months, and broke at Christmas just sucks because we don't buy things during the year, we save it for Christmas.. I was having an all out pity party for myself and let it go too far..

I know this too shall pass but I can't help but be bummed out that they cancelled my appointment with the nutritionist. I for the most part am a pretty realistic person, who goes with the facts. I am rarely impulsive or irrational. I worry about things, but real things not the what ifs. I am suppose to call and let them know who I am seeing, which I did and was told I didn't need to call?? by the receptionist, so I will call the LCSW today who sent the letter, with a really nice note saying how sorry she was that she had to do it because she feels I am ready but they have protocol.. This too shall pass I guess.. It will be for the better in the long run and will probably help me figure some more things out!!

On that note, wish me luck!! I hope my insurance doesn't run out before I can get this completed..

That is a bummer for sure..........

Try to stay positive.........it looks like insurance will pay if you jump through a few hoops.

I live in a province where NO insurance covers the band. Yep, I put the entire 16k on my line of credit, will be paid off in about 5 years.

Think positive...........this WILL happen.........

Thanks Michee, trying not to let it get me down.. With any luck the therapist already contacted them and they will let me keep my appointment with the nutritionist next week... If not, I keep going to therapy till they do..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
