Hi Everyone, I am so excited that I am finally getting closer to being banded. The doctors reports should all be collected and sent to the insurance company for approvals next week and I am hoping to get banded by the end of Sept. I am a little nervous about the indigestion part of the process. I have it now. I love chocolate, but then who doesn't. Even though you are not hungry after banding, how did you all stay away from the bad stuff. Do you lose enough weight to keep energized to continue the plan. I'm so scared that I will sneak chocolate like I do now. How do you be "good". I would appreciate anyones advise. Thanks, FourPaws

Hi Four Paws,

I too LOVE chocolate and was concernred about that before being banded but to my surprise, I haven't had any since and I don't miss it! I think it's because I only want to eat healthy and have been eating low carb....when you do that, you don't miss sweets. Don't worry, you'll do fine and if you find you really want some, just have a little, not what you used to eat. Good luck to you!

Lisa

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate your input. It has so far been a four month process and I still don't have a surgery date. I'm getting frustrated but the excitment of changing my life for the better outweighs that of the annoyances of the process. Have a great day

I lost almost all interest in food after being banded. I mostly only eat because the clock says it's time.

Doesn't happen to all. But for me it was like night and day when it came to food after surgery.

You're very welcome....glad I could help. Don't worry, hang in there, and yes, it's worth the wait. You will be so happy with your band. Keep in touch, I'd love to hear about your progress....ask any questions if you have them.

Lisa :tongue_smilie:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
