fist fill o.m.g!!!!!

Recommended Posts

hi all

I went for my first fill yesterday. I was told it only takes about 5 mins good as hate neddles.....

found the port numbed it prodded me about. tried 3-4 times to fill no joy..

then nurse said thats not the port its a lump that has hurt me on and off since being banded wasnt there before so will go see gp about that....

2nd go at finding port success. numbed area put neddle in to fill no joy tried again. poked about trying to find middle of port could find it. because it had twisted around and facing inwards. so nurse managed to turn it right way round. the did the fill. I have no got a mini dartboard on my belly at moment lol

she said when i go in sept for 2nd fill under xray if its moved again I will have to go back in hosp to have port re-stiched back in place(not looking foward to that one bit) so fingers x for sept and it has stayed in place.

my back and legs was wet through with sweat cus i really do hate needles. hopfully another lb lost:thumbup: lol

sorry it long

Ann xx

That's a bizarre story.

If you do need to have the port restitched, that's not a big deal. I had to have my port resited and it was a breeze compared to the first operation.

Hi Ann

Poor u....! I had my first fill today and was dreadin it but i didnt find it that bad, i must say i am not really afraid of needles tho as i give blood regularly and used to them by now... ;o)

How much restriction have you got...?, i am at 5.5cc in a 10cc band, so am hoping for a little more restriction than before.

Hope everything goes ok for you, reference the port i am sure it wont be hardly as bad as the op itself.

Goodluck

Debbie

thanks for replys

I have had 3c.c put in a 10c.c band and can feel restricted. so hopefully can lose a bit more weight.when I went to see dietician 3 weeks ago I was told they would put in 5c.c so dont no why they only put 3 in? probably because I was getting in a panic!!

as for the port it feels like it has already moved again so not looking forward to next vist to hosp very much.

just hope it dont give me to much jib inbetween time.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
