Try drinking peppermint tea, that usually helps sooth the stomach. Gaviscon or Mylanta can help get rid of the gas as well.

I have tried that once for some plan tuna I started to eat that felt like it was getting stuck and I started slimming and it worked wonders. I learned my lesson from that to and it has only happen once. But I was at work so I had to do something.

Yep, one of the secrets to to band is learning how to eat. When they prepare you for the surgery, I think a LOT of Doctors don't spend NEARLY enough time educating the patients on the effects of too much food at once.....

But, as you say, you've learned you lesson!

Only drink liquids the first day after a fill. Second day very soft foods only. Small portions, chew, chew, slow bites! When you have a fill the area around the band can swell so give it time to adjust. If you are still uncomfortable tonight, drink Water, it will bring up the mass of food you ate. But this is not a practice that is recommended. Read about vomiting and the results...Good Luck!

You'll learn as you go. I have to watch myself when I'm eating with friends. I talk and either take too big of a bite or don't chew as much as I should. I hate it when that happens! SS

I didn't realise you meant you had something stuck. I thought you were feeling sick in the stomach. I don't often get stuck but when I do, I usually drink apple juice and it does work wonders.

hi, i heard too that drinking something acidic - like apple or pineapple juice - helps if you are stuck - it breaks down the food that is stuck like digestive acid (sort of i guess) and helps it pass thru the stoma. i keep apple juice here just in case.. tho i haven't had to use it yet! i know the day will come.

i find too when i'm eating where there is conversation, i totally lose track of chewing and volume and get a big warning (pain for few seconds) from my band to just stop. gotta learn to put eating first in my mind no matter what is going on around me!

we are told to have clear fluids 2 days after a fill and then full fluids for 2 more days. it's a long process and i admit i'm not good at that but i at least stay on mushy food till 4 days out just in case there is swelling or irritation.

i'm definately finding the Soup or soft food syndrome that i've heard about does not help with weight loss. i just had a fill last week so i've had Soup and Protein shakes and lots of fluids and my choices have been too caloric. have to get back to regular food and let the band do it's work!

hope you feel much better 1dayatatime!

I just ate to much and the pain was horrible. Nothing was stuck everything was working fine except me. The fact is I was not paying attention and not listening to my body so I did not stop when I should have and the pain was unbearable. Like before the band when you would eat to much and your stomach hurt except it was at the top part right under my breasts, which I guess is where your pouch is. Anyways the help I got from Sades about the mylata and tea worked wonders except I do not ever what to do that again.

Also My doctor told me Liquids the rest of the day and then I can start back with soft foods then progress as tolerated to a more regular (or regular for the band) diet. You guys know Protein first, chew chew chew, and to pay attention to what I ate(which I didn't do).

Anyways I am taking slow today and eating mushies and liquids.

Thanks again for all of your help.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
