I hope I just need a fill

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 4/10 and to date I have lost 48 pounds. Since being banded I never got a fill. It was my choice that I was doing so well i didnt need one. Well its been a month since I lost anything. My weight keeps going up and back down and I am eating a slight more then what I have been before. The only thing this past month i pb once but because I took a too big of a bit of chicken. Do you think I need a fill? or could there be something wrong?

Hi Dreamsize 8! I was just asking about you the other day. It sounds like to me you need a fill. I haven't lost anything lately either - I know I need one too. I think a lot of us Avengers are in the same boat - we've healed and are in the process of fills and have either just gotten to our sweet spot or are pretty close. I don't think anything is wrong. I've had two fills and one unfill. Call your doc and see what he thinks and schedule one.

I was supposed to have a fill yesterday. But some machine was broke and they told me to come back the 26th. So its gonna be like 7 weeks of not losing now. So I am kinda upset by it. Plus I am dealing with Hair loss and depression.. So bad that this is my third day crying. I can't even go to work ect. I went to another doctor today and he gave me something for depression. I thought I had gotten over my depression. Its been over two years. But its coming back.

Dreamsize!!!

Hi sweetie! I just now found this post and I'm so glad you posted! We were just talking about all the April Avengers that are MIA!! LOL

I'm sorry you feel sad. I know what you mean. I'm losing my hair too. I thought I'd escaped it, but alas...I had not. I am being diligent about taking my Vitamins ( I kind of got out of the habit) and I'm just gonna have to muddle through it. It won't last forever, so we know it will end soon.

I was feeling down too there for a while. I had a fill that's been too tight and I just couldn't seem to adjust to it. I'm doing much better once I just finally succumbed to only eating 4 bites of something. I think I just couldn't go with it. Now it's better. Not great, but better. I could probably still use an unfill while I adjust, but I think it's been long enough now that there's no use.

I am SO PROUD of you and JEALOUS! You've done a great job losing that much weight and all without a fill!!!! Amazing! You really should be so proud of yourself. That is quite an accomplishment. It sounds like you could definitely benefit from a fill and will do great I'm sure. I've read lots of threads about this depression thing creeping on people and taking over for a little while, but it sounds like it disappears pretty quickly too. I hope for sure that's the case for you too, but I'm glad you're seeing a doctor.

PM me too if you want to vent, chat or cry. We are here for you!

~Carol

OK I so know how you feel. It is upsetting to fluctuate on the scale. I have to give you GREAT props for going this long without a fill and what an accomplishment!!!!!! It sounds to me that you are about ready for a fill, no shame in that. Also as for the depression, I can completely understand that. I went psycho all of a sudden, one minute I was crying and the next I was laughing, then I was crying about me laughing. Don't know where that was coming from, but it went away. Basically, what I am trying to say is keep up the great work and know that you have a great support system that knows what you are going through and would love to listen to you.

its just been a crazy week for me. After all this the next day I went to the doctors and he put me back on depression pills. :[ and later that day it rained and i got a flat tire. Gah. Then I got my period and now a cold. In the last few days I started to eat less cuz with my cold dont feel like eating much. I think because of that I dropped 3 pounds out of no where. I've just been so stressed about work and my hair and not losing, I had a few break downs this week. I tend to not be on depression pills for long. I hate being dependent on it. But the doctor thinks I may need them the rest of my life :[ Maybe in time I can beat this.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
