What does full feel like?

Recommended Posts

What does full feel like? Is it a different feeling from before surgery? I have had three fills and what I feel when I eat is pain and my mouth becomes full of Water. I mean severe pain. I can't talk and it comes back up. chicken is the worst! Sometimes I get the pain two bites into the meal or half way or almost done. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I feel like each meal is different. Is this pain the new full??? I sometimes feels like I swallowed a whole bunch of air.

Well...seems to me that you are either taking bites that are too big or not being chewed enough. What you are feeling is not normal, it is the symptom of the food being stuck and your body is trying to either reject it or get it slimy enough to slide through. It also may mean your band is now too tight, or both.

No, you should not be feeling pain. Besides taking smaller bites (use baby utensils) and chewing it to mush (the food should be smaller than a pencil eraser when swallowed) make sure you put your fork down between bites and give the food time to go down.

Pay attention to which foods you ate when you get this feeling, there may be certain foods that you do not tolerate well and those foods can be different for everyone. I get that pain if I don't eat properly, if I eat too much or if I eat the wrong foods.

If you do not think that any of this is contributing to your pain then I would make an appointment to talk it over with your doctor.

In my paperwork (being banded tomorrow) they said that beef, chicken, lamb and pork were hard to eat. They must be cooked "wet" poached in broth or in a fat free gravy, then it's not too dry. Dry food is the culprit, and taking bites that are too big. They recommended the poaching and as with tuna, a fat and low calorie mayo.< /p>

Try poaching the chicken and see what happens.

Good luck

I agree sounds like your taking bites too big and not chewing enough and it's getting stuck, that pain is the stuck feeling not full feeling. Full feeling is different. YOu just know you can't eat more. It's kind of like before but you don't feel the lower belly distended kinda full. It's more like between your breast bone up most of your chest full. Like if you eat another bite it will sit in your throat. But no pain.

Hope that helps.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
