just got banded.....on my way!

Recommended Posts

Just got banded on Friday, Aug 1st. I am still quite sore and the soreness has left me wondering what any of the assorted aches and pains actually are! I can't really tell if I am full or too full....it seems like one big pain! Anyway, I have some dull aches in the upper part of my back and am wondering if that is just part of the deal?????

hello redhead, I'm Ida Kay from Virginia. I had Lap Band Surgery on July 3, 2008. I was in the same boat. I had a fullness a first, but after about a week out of surgery, it went away and i felt alot better. The upper back pain could be gas related.

Yes it is the deal at least it was for me! I was banded on July 31st and had pressure/dull pain in my upper back the worst on Friday and Saturday. Things that helped.... a warm heating pad, a massager on my back to create kind of a patting like a baby gets when they are full of gas. Some people say Gas Ex strips work but I have also heard that they don't desolve that type of air/gas/pressure.

In the morning I still wake up feeling empty but every morning I feel more and more like me. I will say my port incision was giving me a little trouble today just in terms I could feel it. Kinda felt weird. I hope that helps!

Hi I'm an Aug 1st also.. also wake up not hungry but an empty feeling. I feel my port incision. The others I don't feel at all. I'm still taking some pain med but very little. I wake at night every 4 to pee but go right back to sleep. Everyday better. I know when I need pain med when I kinda bend over when I walk. I think it is time for a nap. Talk to you later.:)

Surgery Date 08-01-08

Weigh in at hospital Aug 1st 2008 245

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
