sorry gone so long

Recommended Posts

Sorry I've been gone so long. Life took over. Well, I had to start my 6 months over so it is all consecutive. I'm on month 2 and they are flying by. My sister is also doing her 6 months and we hope to get banded together. Still at 278, maintaining. At least I'm not gaining, my doctor says that's good. I'm not happy about it. Keeping a food and exercise journal. Started walking - OW!:) I hurt so bad after my walk I have to take my pain pills. I've tried walking less but it still hurts. But the doc says walk so I walk. No weight loss yet. I walk about 9 blocks a day, down to get the mail at the post office and back. I barely make it back. Can't breathe, hurt real bad, the works. I can't wait till I get banded. My insurance says if I get the 6 months consecutive then I will qualify and be good. My out of pocket max is only 1800 and I can do that with the tax refund next year. Hopefully my sister gets done at the same time. She is just starting her 6 months but mine are up in December however won't have the money to pay for it until Feb. so she can catch up. Just means I'll have a couple extra months is all. That can only help. Doc wants me at 1800 calories a day, having trouble cause I'm so hungry but doing my best staying between 1800 and 2200. Big span I know, but doing my best. Anyway, just thought I'd drop in and say hi, let everybody know I'm still alive. Will try to be on more often now. Things have settled down a little bit. Okay having trouble with my ticker, what's the website again to fix it?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
