Wow! I guess I get to finally join a group too! I just got my surgery date TODAY!! It's tentatively set for the 25th. They have to double-check the date with the proctor. My surgeon is new to Kaiser and has already been cleared but the assistant surgeons need to be cleared so it looks like I'm going to have 3 or 4 surgeons in with me!

I just turned 40 last Saturday (26th), have been married to my DH for almost 21 years and we have a 2 year old DD. I work at home 5 hrs a week doing the books for our church. We like to travel, camp, and mainly just be together. Doing whatever or nothing at all!

I started gaining weight in my early 20's. I've lost and gained so many times, it's time to do something to stop the yo-yo! Between being hungry a good portion of the time and eating way too much at a sitting, I've managed to get here. DH doesn't have a weight issue and if he does gain a few pounds, he just decides to lose it and it's gone!

It's good to meet everyone! I'll be seeing you around! TTFN!

My surgery is tomorrow. I live in upstate NY with my husband. We have a 19 year old son.

I have been overweight my entire life (well except for a few years). I gained a tremendous amount of weight, about 70lbs, from trying infertility treatments. They unfortunately did not work and I was left with all that weight. I was already about 40 lbs overweight so it did not help.

I have been considering lapband for about 1.5 years and decided this January to move forward.

I am very excited to meet others having the surgery this month too.

Hello; Thanks for the invite LanaKila. I was banded today, and this is my introduction to the August Allstars. I feel pretty good right now. Looking to have a good healing time.

I come from a family with "weighty" issues. My Mother was heavy and lost weight through diet. My sister had gastric bypass 5 years ago and lost 110lbs. That surgery had her out of commission for a while. The risks with gastric bypass are so much more than Lap Band. I believe Lap Band will really work for me, and I it sounds like you can right back to life with little time away from family and work.

:cool2:My husband and I have 2 :scared2::cursing: children and 1 :tongue:dog. We both work full time and I working towards a certificate at a local university for my next career. My job has involved a bit of travel and some long hours, and I find it hard to eat perfectly. I will need to be better at this!

I can't believe that I weighed 301 pounds. I am now down 17 pounds with the pre-surgery regime. That gives me a sense of accomplishment. I know I will need more to keep going.

I understand that the clinic has a scale to track the appropriate caloric intake needed to lose 2 pounds a week. Do any of you track fat, sugar and carbs? Do you keep a food diary? How do you find cooking for the family foods that you cannot eat?

I can see this is a good place for support! Look forward to talking to you.

Hello Everyone!

So many wonderful stories on here! Trish we have a bit in common!

I am 28 and live in NorCal. (Fires are still going but we can finally breath again) I am a QA supervisor at a local natural/organic juice facility here. I am single with 3 four furry quadrupeds as my kids. 2 Kitties and 1 amazing pup. In my spare time I volunteer at a local wildlife facility that has many special needs exotic animals; mostly cats. We care for tigers, lions, leopards a couple coyotes and many more.

I can't remember when I didn't have a weight issue. I was a wonderful weight as a freshman in high school and it has gone up since then. After high school I went to USNA and still managed to gain weight. (what does that tell you) So I think this will be a wonderful tool to help me get the yo-yo under control and a good healthy life in order.

Congrats to our day one people!

C~

Hi...My name is Pj. I've been married to my wonderful husband for 39 years. We have 2 sons, ages 37 & 34. 2 gorgeous granddaughters, ages 8yrs & 12 months.

I work for the Dallas County Tax Office, going on 13 years. I love my job very much.

My hobbies are, MY GRANDDAUGHTERS, reading, scrapbooking, gardening. I'm fixing to add a new hobby to this list, which will be exercising. As soon as my band heals I'm joining 24 hr. fitness with my daughter-in-law.

I quit smoking 20 months ago. Since then I have gained soooooooo much weight. I have a problem sticking to a diet, I do better when I have rules and guidelines I MUST follow. I would always say....I will start my diet tomorrow. Since my pre-op diet started July 21st I have lost 12 lbs.

I have not felt well for some time due to this excess weight, which has caused my blood pressure to get very high. I don't have the energy I once had. 2 years ago, I took my granddaughter to 6 Flags over Texas, there is no way I could today. I want to feel better, and live to see my granddaughters grow up.

I love swimming, can't remember the last time I put a bathing suit on. One thing I am looking forward to next summer is buying a new bathing suit, going swimming and taking my granddaughter to the waterpark. Good Luck everyone on your weight loss journey. I am so ready !!!

pj_taxlady,

Welcome, we are close to the same age, I am 60 live in Massachusetts, I am getting banded next week on the 7th. Do you have a date yet. I have friends in Richardson Texas. I am married for 33 years to a lovely guy and I have one daughter 31 and one brand new granddaughter 12 weeks old now. She's such a little joy, I want to be there when she grows up and gets married. I also want to take her places that now I would feel uncomfortable doing. We have a small pool in the back yard, I do have a bathing "dress" LOL that's what they call them. So I am in the pool a lot in the summer. I want to wear a normal bathing suit next year. Teach GD to swim and go to amusement parks when she's older. I want to ride on all the fun rides too.

I can't wait for the next 4 and a half days to go by and get my banding...best of luck

Hi All!!

My name is Lisa Marie, but you can call me Lisa... I am 27 years old and currently live in Las Vegas , NV. I like most of on here have struggled with my weight. I have tried every diet, diet pill and starvation to lose weight. I did at one time lose over 100 pounds while I was on the Aktins diet. However, I learned that once I put a peice of bread in my mouth it would be hello weight gain. LOL

I am tired of hearing people tell me, "OMG if you lost weight, you will be gorgous, etc. " I am tired of my weight being the topic of discussion with my "skinny" friends. I just want to be healthy and happy and maybe find love, is that too much to ask for? I want to shop at "regular" stores and not have to spend double the amount of money on a pair of jeans.. LOL anyways.. I am scheduled for surgery August 8th, 2008. So 8-8-08 is my day where my second chance begins. :) I had my seminar July 9th, went for blood work and EKG on July 23rd, was approved July 30th and hello August 8th. :Banane34:

I am soooo excited but yet soooo scared, I come on the site and site for hours reading the forum.. and I think I am scaring myself no reason. Anyways, I am to a huge GIANTS fan and can not wait for the season to begin.. We are taking it all the way again this year!!!!! Well I am excited to get to know everyone during this life long changing journey! Hope everyone has a great weekend. :huh2:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
