5 days post-op!

Hello, all!

Surgery was last Tuesday, and I'm doing quite well, I think. Minimal pain, except for gas and bloating. Don't want to eat as much as what is on the daily food intake list. And, almost back to the weight I was the day before surgery. My first follow-up is Wednesday.

Tomorrow I go back to work, but on an abbreviated schedule. The boss is out on vacation, so I can go in for as little as I can tolerate, with his permission. I'm not looking forward to it, because I still feel like I have too little energy. Better every day, but still tired a lot.

I've quickly learned to sip my Water and Protein Drinks . Gas pain is not fun!

Congrats on getting banded!!

And before you know it the gas pain will be gone. I hear walking around and using gas X helps.... I was one of the fortunate ones who didn't experience any pain from gas.

Hope work goes well. Take it easy.

Good luck and take care!

Yay! Congratulations! I'm glad everything went well for you. It honestly will soon become a distant memory. I know I have to think about it for a minute to remember and it's only been 6 months. The excitement of the weight loss journey way overshadows that pain for me. Good luck with work.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
