well Ive been losing a pound a day but Im still on the liquid diet. Dont weigh yourself for a few days after the surgery because you will have all those fluids and gas that you will most likely weigh more.

Everyone loses at there own pace. Some are very fast (like me) and some are slow and get very frustrated. You sound like you have a great mindset. Just choose wisely what goes in your mouth an exercise, you will be fine. I am 4 months out today and have lost 80 pounds. So it can be done.

Hey, Sugarbean...I'm 4 months out today too! I've lost 27# & I'm blissful. As long as those scales are going in the right direction, I'll be happy. Now if I had GAINED 27# in 4 months, I'd be going nuts!

Everyones body is different. Plus I'm 54, that may have something to do with it.

You go girl!!! Slow/fast it doesn't matter, as long as we are losing.

If it were not for the band, I would still weigh 300 pounds. YUCK!!!

P.S. I lost 30 pounds before surgery.

I heard somewhere that guys lose a little faster. Is that true? Anyone know?

I'll be happy to lose at any speed, just curious.

My doctor says that statiscally the average bander loses 50% of their excess weight in 18 months to 3 year and keep it off. Some lose more and some lose less but if you lose 50% of excess weight, then you are considered a success. I hope and plan to lose all of my excess weight but now I know that means that it is entirely up to me to do so.

Dionna - How true, we are in charge of what goes in out mouth and how much exercise we do. In the end, it is what I do that counts, not the band, not the doctor, but me.

Look how much you've lost so far! That's awesome! I can't wait until I can put up a 75 lbs lost banner.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
