My bike is talking to me!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, I have this Trek 21 speed bike on my back porch. I see it every time I go out there! I keep hearing this little voice from it. "Ride me and see what happens to that gut" it says! I have not ridden since early days of college. I know i CAN ride, but just feel awkward, to say the least! That is probably my "fat-brain" talking. I think I will air up the tires and oil that chain and hop on... Hey, what do I have to lose?... another 90 pounds of FAT... Thats what!

Anybody else with me on this?

Just do it! But baby steps are O.K., just as long as you take a step (or peddle).

You're doing great!

TX - that is sooo your now long-gone, defunct, no longer in existence fat brain talking to you! I get it. I still think I can't do things that I now know I can. I am terribly pleased when I go ahead and do things and realize whoa, I really CAN do this now. You go man! You will have so much fun!

Ok... I did it.

After much procrastination, I did it!

I put air in the tires and got on the saddle. All 296 pounds of me and that Trek mountain bike ALMOST made it all the way around the block! Now, I know what your probably thinking. "you couldn't even make it around the block?" Remember... I am in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

OK... that is my excuse. Well, it could also be that my block is exactly one mile around. I made it all but the last 100 yards. I walked it back to the house.

I will be making it all the way around non-stop by my third ride i bet. It sure felt good. I was SUCKIN' WIND!

I am setting a goal for myself right now... 100 miles before my one year mark! That makes only 99 more trips around the "block"

Maybe I will put up a new "Exercise" ticker.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
