Has your doctor allowed you snacks?

Recommended Posts

Has your doctor allowed you morning afternoon and evening Snacks? or has he told you no snacks just 3 meals a day? How long should a person feel full for?

I am not to do Snacks unless they are Protein Snacks.

My instructions are not to drink during a meal and no liquids for 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. I have found if I can do this, my pouch stays full longer and I am less hungry. The Protein also helps to keep me satisfied longer.

During a meal, I am good for 3-6 hours depending on what I eat. I have found that Beans (refried and kidney) really do keep you full. My string cheese "snacks" also help a lot between meals.

My doctor said no Snacks, but the workers at the obesity center where I get my fills say 2 snacks a day are fine. I find that I can't get enough calories without 2 healthy snacks a day. I do mine mid morning and late afternoon. I don't do snacks after dinner.< /p>

The basic guideline at my clinic as per the literature is 3 meals per day, no Snacks, but its not like you'd get into trouble if you choose an alternative plan. Its left up to the individual, it would really only be discussed if you consistently werent losing or were gaining weight. My doc has never really asked what I eat because the results have been good.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
