Hello, I am a new teacher.. older in years but semi-recently graduated (5/03). Presently teaching 8-12th grade English at a private school for girls.. who generally have been placed here by the courts with the option of going to prison or to this school.

I would love to teach elementary Special Ed. or GED but teaching jobs are almost non existant in central/upstate NY. ... especially for older, fat, 'new' teachers. That's one of the reasons why I need to lose weight.

For 2 summers I worked as a substitute teacher in a maximum security prison for males under the age of 18. Many people don't realilze that it is a lot safer and easier to work in a prison than in a public school... (guess I shouldn't let the cat out of the bag).

I actually enjoyed it. I would love to work there full-time, but full-time teaching jobs are scarce to come by in my area... you need to know someone who knows someone. That is if you are not math or science... and I am P-K-12 Special Ed, 7-12 English and Elementary P-K-6.

I have a B.S. in business management, but because I moved to Portugal, there is more money in teaching English because I'm a native speaker. Right now I'm teaching at a british school here in Portugal. It's been a new experience and I hope one day to get back to business, but for now this pays the bills.

I'm a musician, teacher, and journalist. I am a music critic for the Dallas Morning News, the United Methodist Reporter, and a couple smaller publications. I teach piano, voice, and music theory.

And I just started a record label which released my first solo album. After having worked on other people's projects, I decided it was time to start doing my own thing...

If you're interested at all in Christian music, specifically mellow piano-ballad type stuff, you might like my CD. You can hear snippets - and order it online if you like it - at www.mikeycunningham.com

Leenerbups...my life is complete, now that I have this cowbell clip on my computer! Now if you have the skit with Farley trying out for Chipandales with Patrick Swayze...it would be as if the heavens had parted and smiled upon us! Tee hee!

My grandfather was an old time Methodist, fire and brimstone, Salvation Army preacher....back when they used to literally scare the 'hell' out of ya! And I also dabbled in Christian music many moons ago. I play the autoharp and I also made a tape of 11 songs I wrote, strangely enough they got air time in Scotland, but not here in the US.. I didn't have enough money to get them played. and don't know enough about the music industry to get someone to listen to them. I also tried to set up a website to perhaps download the music from there, but found that I am not smart enough to figure out how...and again, it takes $ which I don't have. Perhaps you could give me some pointers?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
