First Goal Met!! Almost to Onederland!

Recommended Posts

Hello all!! First I must say this forum has been an invaluable resource for me during my bandster journey. I was banded on Feb. 19 and as of yesterday, I am down 50 pounds!! I have never lost that much. Anyway, 50 pounds was my first goal and I met the deadline I set for myself. Plus, I am just 3 pounds away from Onederland. Haven't been there for over 10 years.

If anyone out there is discouraged, or wondering if the band really can work- it does and it can!! I love the control over food the band gives me. Best wishes to everyone on their bandster journey! :biggrin2:

Congrats Cookienay! What an exciting time for you! I hope that I can get to that point and be just as excited. I was banded last Wed (July 2) and am already down 9 lbs! I keep wondering if this could continue and your message has really inspired me! (I always think in the back of my mind if this is really going to work for me.) Thank you for your words of encouragement and I'm sure you will be in onederland very soon! Congratulations and Best of Luck with your continued weight loss!

cookienay, you & I are on approx the same path. Congrats to you:thumbup: OH, and to me.

However, i'm a little further away from onederland then you are at this point. I was banded Feb 28th and have lost 45 lbs so far. My goal is to hit 50 lbs by the end on this month, which will be my 5th month aniversary. My next goal is to hit onederland...i'd like to do this by Labor Day. I know....thats a big goal 17 lbs...but i started a bootcamp workout this week. We'll see. Whats bad is i can remember the last time i was there (only for a short time) December 2004---i weighed 195.

Has this not been the best thing we've done????? congrats again.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
