Getting banded 15th Bromsgrove-Terrified!!!

Recommended Posts

After reading everyones comments Im sure that Im doing the right thing-however I do feel terrified of the surgery and things going wrong.

My consultant is Mr Sigursson and really seems to know what he's doing(I should hope so) Have read some bad feedback on THG however im opened minded and know that there is good and bad reviews with everything in life.

family and close friends say that im bad getting the band i should just diet but ive done all the diets under the sun lose the weight then gain it again. I just what a weight that I can stick too and be happy.......

i'm right there with you, i'm also being banded on the 15th and i'm terrified as well. I have had family members tell me the same thing that I should just diet or exercise, and they just don't understand, because its not hard for them. So I completely understand you and good luck....

Hi I am getting banded on the 25th and am nervous as well. I know its the right thing and I am so tired of trying and failing, but in the back of my own mind I keep thinking.. maybe I should try to diet and excercise and I could just try harder.. BUT I know it wouldnt work and I would be here a year from now waiting to get banded!! hang in there..

I'm also getting banded on the 15th and am excited to begin my weight loss journey. I've had reservations in the past but did a lot of research on my doctor. I feel very comfortable and confident with my choice. There are always risks to surgery but I have great family, social and spiritual support. Good luck to you both and to everyone getting banded.

Congrats on making such a great decision. Your entire life is going to change, confidence through the roof, and much better health is to come.

I am sorry that you're family isn't backing you 100% I am sure once they see how well you're doing they will change their minds.

You will be just fine during the surgery. The doctors will make sure you're fit enough for it and that the anasethia is just right.

I wish you a speedy recovery

I'm scheduled for the 16th. I am super scared too. Not to have the band...I know it's what I want. But having a 14yr old daughter and 2yr old son I can't help but wonder if I have the right to put my life at risk for a surgery I don't really "need". My bmi is considered low for the surgery but I am so tired of being over weight and spending my life dieting and exercising with no results!! I still can't help but wonder if the risk, as low as it may be, is worth it.

I didn't have to go on one. Thank goodness!! I don't think I would've done so well. My doc said I didn't need to lose any weight before the surgery so just nothing to eat or drink after midnight. I hope everything goes well tomorrow. Make sure to give us an update!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
