7 days after band and loving it!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I got banded last Friday (June 27th) and I am amazed at how well I have been feeling. So far I have lost 15 pounds so on average about a pound a day. I wonder how that will change when I start solids.

My only concern is that the palms of my hands keep peeling and I haven't gotten my period this month. Has anyone experienced this as well?

Monicasf, I got banded May 27th and also feel GREAT. Never a moment of nausea, or pain, I've lost a total of 29lbs since surgery day and still loosing. It has slowed down, especially now that I am very comfortable w/solid foods, but still going down each week. I go for my first fill July 18th and I can't wait. I do feel like I am starting to see old habits stick their mean ole heads up, but I just have to remember, eat healthy, even you have to eat more, make it healthy,(low carb, low fat, no sugar, high protien) My period was about 4 days late, and I am always 28 days every month, no fail. So be patient, you've been through surgery and that was stressful, so give you body time to catch up. This has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. I'm not able to eat the size portions I use to before the band, so I know things are working in there, even w/out the fill yet. :tt2:

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
