Over Eating!!! HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

:confused:Hi I'm Donna from Georgia. June 5, 2007 was my 1 year. Lost from 292 to 218. Been at 222-218 since Feb. of this year. Had a fill, got restricted to the point where I could only eat soft food. Had .5 taken out. Now I can eat most anything. I need help to get my brain (mental), to work with me. I am going in Mon. July 7 for follow up. The doc says this is just a helping tool, blah blah blah. I know this. I am not stupid. I just want to say get in my head and explain this. I have considered hypnotsis (really). Any suggestions on what to do to get myself back on track. This started last oct. I have only lost 10 lbs since then. Should I get a big fill. Remember how it felt right after surgery? I want this feeling again. It was wonderful. Eat a little and be full for hours. Not now. What changed. How do I get that feeling again.

Ask yourself why you did the weight loss surgery. Like most of us it was probably to improve your health. With that thought in mind, do you believe that your current weight is healthy? You've done great! The objective of the surgery was to change your eating habits. Have you done that?

I would personally seek a therapist or a psychologist for assistance. You probably need some talk therapy. Hypnosis can be used - if that is what you really want. I have found it hard to relax enough to slip into hypnosis so it didn't work too well for me. Seek the advice of professional - are you dealing with food addiction? You have come so far that I am sure you wouldn't want to gain any back. If you are stuck in a plateau, you might try more exercise.

Think positive!

You are definately not alone! I had my surgery 10/8 of this year and I am going through the same situation. At first it was so restricted and I didnt feel hungry for hours...losing was not difficult all but then the inflamation went away and I had my first fill. It helped some but not near enough! I guess I will wait till the next fill 12/18 and see if that helps at all. I am trying to motivate myself by doing some walking each night but its hard. I am a single mom so the schedule is very difficult some times. I am having trouble keeping my mind in the right place as far as NOT eating also. and the not drinking Fluid after makes me crazy!!!!!!

I UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
