Is it possible to be at the sweet spot with just 1 fill ?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on March 26, 2008.

I had my first fill in April (2 cc in my 10 cc band).

If I do not carefully chew, food gets stuck.

I stay full after a meal for 4 - 5 hours with no problems.

I have lost 28 lbs in 3 months.

I am scheduled for my 2nd fill today. I don't really feel like I need a fill.

I am going to the doctor anyway, since I have only been back 2 times since my surgery.

Anyone else feeling restricted with so little in their band ?

Yes, it is absolutely possible. There are some here who have great restriction after one fill and there are some who have lost a ton of weight without ever getting a fill at all. You are truly one of the lucky ones. I was banded exactly one year to the date before you and I'm on my 9th fill and am still struggling to get good restriction. I must say I'm a bit envious

Hi Reen. The same thing happened to me. Surgery on 4/23 though and the second they put 2ccs in my band I was full and haven't felt 1 hunger pain since. I lost 4 pounds the first week after fill, 3 last week and already 2 this week... I think I found my spot or really close to it..

So yes 1 fill can work!

You are doing AWESOME!! I had to get 4 fills before I felt ANY restriction. If you are having decent restriction and losing weight, you won't need a fill. I am scared to be too tight and have food STUCK all the time. Also, it can be a bit painful.

Be GLAD you are one of the lucky ones that didn't need many fills. You will lose weight sooner than most of us.

KEEP IT UP!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
