Closer and closer...

Just wanted to share with some people who would understand....

I don't yet have a surgery date, but I'm pretty close to meeting all the requirements. I've gotten all my blood work done, my EKG, my physical therapy consultation. I have my psych review scheduled for the 14th. After that, the only other reqirement is the nutritionist and the soonest appointment I could get was August 11th, however the program coordinator told me we won't have to wait for that to meet the surgeon for the pre-surgery consult and get the procedure scheduled!

I guess that means late August? It's JULY now - that's sooo close!

I've done ALL the paperwork and the food diary and everything. I haven't officially gotten insurance approval but have been told that it's not even an issue with my insurance and my qualifying situation.

I can't believe I'm so close to getting it firmly on the calendar. It was all so overwhelming just a short while ago.

 Just wanted to share...

LindaD, Welcome to lapbandtalk. I have just completed all of my test and appointments and got my paperwork for surgery which is scheduled of July 16th. I started my liquid Optifast preopt diet today. But I got a call from the doctor's office today saying my white blood count is high, must have an infection. I am taking antibiotics for both a tooth and a sinus infection. Have to repeat my blood work next week. Sure hope it does not mess me up. I am so excited and I know you are too. I hope you get your date real soon. Hang in there we are up for a new life ahead.

Good for you, you rea almost there! Don't get scared now, looks like you got a special person who will be pulling for you and thats half the battle. It's important to have someone to share all this with, the ggod and the bad. Follow your doctors orders exactly and you'll have no problems. If you are going on a liquid diet before to shrink your liver, don't start it earlier than the doctor says. While it might seem like a great thing to lose a couple of pounds before, you are going to be on liquids a long time and it gets boring fast.

Hope everything goes well for you, keep writing this site has the best support available!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
