Hi, my name is Jessica and I am from SLC, UT. I am 3 weeks post-op and a little frustrated. This is a lot harder than I thought. I can't wait until I can get back to regular food. pudding, yogurt, mashed potatoes and Soup just aren't cutting it anymore. I didn't realize how much I like food. I am getting used to seeing everyone else eating all the unhealthly food but I am just sick of eating the same thing everday. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what else I could eat at this point?

Thanks!

Hi, Jessica - Hang in there! I'm starting Stage 5 today and now I have few restrictions so it is more scary than frustrating. I do know how you feel, though. Have you gone to the food and Nutrition posts? I found that people are quite creative (much more than I am!) at how to make mush taste good. I tried one recipe that had tuna fish (1/2 of 6 oz water-packed) mixed with low fat sour cream (1 Tbs) and a Tbs of shredded low-fat (skim?) mozzarella and heated it up. Another thing I had was low-fat ricotta cheese with a little bit of Classico Tomato sauce (I read the label - low cal, but a little high in sodium - for the amount of cheese I could have, I didn't even use the whole 1/4 cup serving) - a fake lasagna! Anyway - better than some of the basics. These were survival "meals" during the last week of school! Check out that post, though.

Hi Jan.

That is a hard stage to be in. I ate cottage cheese and refried Beans as well. In fact the refried beans were like heaven! I put a little cheese on them and ate them with lite sour cream and guacamole. Probably a little high on the fat, but I wasn't eating much anyway, so it worked out. They make fat free black refried beans which are really yummy. I also ate cream of wheat for Breakfast, thinned out with a little milk. You'll make it. These first few weeks quickly become a distant memory. Hang in there.

For a wonderful treat go to Taco Bell and get their Pintos and cheese. They are 160 calories and a lot of Protein. I put a little fat free sour cream and top and thought I was in 'food heaven". They are really helping me in that third and fourth week of semi-mushie food. I also have made tuna salad and baked some catfish. Watermelon is also very good right now.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
