Can tolerate everything--Need help!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on May 27th 2008 I had my first fill on June 26. I lost 14lbs but I can tolerate everything. I work nights on the weekends and find myself very hungry. What should I eat after midnight, today I ate a bag of chips! Can I get some tips on snacking with the band. I know they said dont snack but what about healthy Snacks. I dont feel much different from my fill and did not do clear liquid again I just ate creamy Soup after fill. My Doc said clear liquid 2-3 days after fill. Hope Iam not in trouble.

I am saying this with love...just because you can tolerate everything doesn't mean you should eat everything. It's important to your overall success that you make behavior changes. It doesn't mean you won't ever eat a chip again, but you shouldn't make a habit of it as it will hurt your overall weight loss. Try to stick to 3 meals a day. If you are truly hungry and need to eat, eat a 4th meal made up of Protein, veggies, and fruit. At least that way you will be eating things that are feeding your body and not eating empty calories. I'm a little surprised that you are already on solid foods...I think I was on liquids for 6 weeks and then mushy foods for 2 weeks. I was really hungry weeks 2 through 6, but I just had to recognize that it was part of the healing process.

You can do it! I know it's frustrating sometimes. I really need a fill right now and have to wait another week and a half.

Hi there! I too am a snacker. I am trying to stick to three meals but I often have a snack. ALmonds chewed really slowly are good. sugar free popsicles are great or a piece of string cheese and a few whole wheat crackers. I know there are many here who will say those are poor choices...but I am losing steadily and I do not feel deprived at all..I think that is the key to success as well...attitude. I have lost 35 pounds (okay 34) and my surgery was May 5.

By the way...I was on liquids for two weeks, mushies for two, then solids. My hospital served me custard two hors out of surgery!

Take care...and try hard to avoid the chips. (Those go down way too easy for me...)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
