Hi all. I had my surgery in February 08. I feel great and have lost over 40lbs so far. I never got sick at all after surgery and after reading some of your stories, I see that getting hungry is normal. I have been stuck at the same weight for over 2 wks , lost a pound this morning so maybe I will start going again. I am losing inches, but seem to be hungry and can eat more than they say I should be able to. I have had two fills so far and am scheduled for another mid July. How many fills have some of you had and are my symtoms normal?

Thanks for all your advise and comments. Since we are all in this together, I value your comments.

Hi! Congrats on your weight loss! 40 pounds in 4 months is nothing to sneeze at! LOL I was banded in January 08, so I'm at the same time frame as you. I've also had 2 fills since then. I also feel that I can eat too much. My difference is that I don't get hungry-I eat because I'm bored or realize I haven't eaten. Since my 2nd fill, I can't eat anything for Breakfast and a lot of things are tough. I tell everyone I'm not complaining-that's what I want to happen! I think you're doing great! They say 1-2 pounds a week weight loss and that might vary if you're exercising and gaining muscle-you'll lose inches. Don't fill too tight! They always say slow and steady wins the race! Keep me updated! Angie in PA PS-I'm actually down to 233, but gotta figure out how to update my ticker :grouphug:

Jami, We have the same numbers!!!! I started at 304 and this morning I was 233. I was banded in March.

I have had one fill. I go to the doctors this week. I hope not to get a fill. I feel really good, losing steady, not really hungry, able to eat a small portion (less than 1 cup), have not been sick (vomit/slime).

I am comfortable with how things are going, I just don't want to mess up a good thing. I am sure I will need a fill eventually.

Keep up the good work!

Teri,

You are doing great!!! Yes, there are weeks that you will lose absolutely nothing. I know it drives me crazy. You may have a week or two with nothing and then all of a sudden you drop 5 pounds.

Just remember Protien, Water, exercise. And another thing I have realized. No one is the same. Just keep a good attitude and everything will work out in the end.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
