Hi, I was banded 5/16/07. I lost 26 lbs before my surgery and have lost a total of 50 lbs. I have been stuck on the same plateau for quite some time. I'm thinking of doing two weeks on liquids again to jump start the weight loss and get it going again. Any advice on this?:rolleyes2:

tbenson, I agree with Lundy! It sounds like you are doing amazing. You have lost 24 pounds since your surgery in just 36 days! There are many that would envy that. Keep in mind that it's normal to have plateaus (I've certainly had mine.). I think you should just keep doing what you are doing. If anything, change up your exercise and wait it out for another week before you do something like going back on liquids.< /p>

I had my 1st meeting on Jan 2, then 2 times a month visits before my band date on May 20th. I started out at 200, and weighed 186.5 on the day of surgery, I have been as low as 182, and as high as 185, depends on the time of day, etc... I am going for my 1st fill on June 23, and I'm hoping I will start seeing a more steady wt loss. I have lost inches, but only 15 to 18 lbs total since Jan. So, you are doing very well. I am 4'11", and want to get to 115, so I only have a total of about 70 or so lbs. Does anyone think that is why I'm losing more slowly than oher people that have more to lose? I am pretty carb concious, but I don't think I am staying below 30 carbs everyday, some days a little more, some days a little less, if any. But, I think even air has carbs in it!

I was banded september 07, just like you, still stuck. been stuck since march ! I cant make myself do the liquid diet again. i do drink a shake for Breakfast most of the time though. I just got a 1/2 unfil and can eat better now. I hope I will lose again. Everyone says to hang on, it will start again. Lets hope it does. I wish I knew the magic words to tell you tbenson. When you figure it out let me know too.

Some people find that a couple weeks on liquids -- particularly if you are talking about a Meal Replacement program like Medifast - works great to jumpstart. When I tried to do it, I only lasted a couple days. So I'll make an alternate suggestion or two:

One thing I've found helpful is using TheDailyPlate.com to track what I'm eating. Instead of doing liquids you could commit to two weeks of daily food tracking. Once you figure out your approximate daily calorie intake, you can decide if you need to change it. I aim for 1200 a day and have been losing well on that.

Is it possible that you need a slight fill? Sometimes even just a tiny bit can make a difference in your hunger levels and how much you can eat. Especially if you've been on a plateau for awhile.

And how is your exercise and Water intake?

Congrats on the 50 lbs!!

thedailyplate.com is a good suggestion. I use it too (should have mentioned it in my earlier post). It does really help me be more conscsious about what I'm eating. I mainly use it to make sure I'm getting all of my Protein in.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
