Sure do. He was my Dr. As far as a Dr. goes his experience and kindness was just great. I wasn't a fan of his office staff at all times, but, that's about it. I'd go to him again.

Anyone reading this who uses him - what was your hospital experience like? Like you say, met dr. nussbaum - heard great things about him. my surgery is scheduled for 7/1/08, but I'm not happy with his office staff. You'd think they'd have more patience for ppl who are making a huge, life altering decision and paying them the great compliment of literally putting their life in their hands. Dr. Nussbaum himself, though, was really nice, really patient, and has a reallly good rep.

I'm typing this from my cell phone so I can only type so much. The surgery is at the hospital itself and his office staff won't be there. The staff at the hospital was great. Tried to accomodate me in every way. As soon as the surgery was over he immediately went to the waiting room to my family and actually showed them a picture of my band. Told them his concerns which really were nothing major (about my enlarged bladder? Something LOL nothing to do with the surgery) said to keep an eye on it with normal dr visits. My insurance required overnight stay. I was fine. It was great. They gave me anything and everything I wanted and I was quite a pain at times solely due to gas pains

Dont worry. You'll be fine!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
