I live close to SLC. I notice you did your surgery in CO. Do you have a Dr. or clinic nearby to handle your fills? You will definitely want to find someone close.

My band has helped me regain control of my life. Hope your experience is as rewarding!!

Actually I am finding that it is about the same amount of money to go to my surgeon for fills as it is to get one here. I haven't been able to find anyone who does them for less than 185. I can get cheap plane tickets, and my surgeon does fill for free the first 3 months and after that they are only $15. So I may end up finding someone cheaper, but if they are around the same price I would rather have my surgeon do it. I am looking forward to regaining control of my life as well. Thanks!!

You really might have a backup plan. A friend of mine had a fill then had to have an emergency unfill the next day because of the extreme pain that it caused over night. She was fine once she went back to the Dr office. Just my opinion.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
