I was banded on May 20 and I am olay. Although the nurse called and said it is a very common problem and if I neded to take some milk of magnesia....maybe call your nurse tomorrow and ask for suggestions. Good luck.

I am thinking you mean you haven't had a bowel movement, yes? (#2) If yes, I would try some green tea. That always helps me. You can buy it at the grocery Arizona brand is fine. Room temperature.

Good luck.

My doctor suggested that old stand-by, prune juice. I buy it in the 6-pack. It works just fine, without the cramping and nasty taste of milk of magnesia.

I was banded on a Tuesday and my Dr said if I had not had one by end of Friday I should take some Milk of Magnesia. I think it is really common, so not much to worry about, but I would double check with your surgeon. I want to say the glue stayed on the incisions for about a week, but not sure exactly.

No worries Lena, this may be TMI but it took me 11 DAYS! Pain meds can really slow down your system. When I called in about it they said as long as I was able to pass gas I was okay.

Also, I had a LOT of glue going on and I was very gentle in the shower so I bet it took a month for everything to fully come off without me picking. Good luck and be sure to get enough liquids in--don't be like me and get dehydrated!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
