I had my surgery May 2nd

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is it true that I will be hungry until I get my first fill? My first fill will be June 16th. Is the band not restricting food now? I initially lost 15 lbs. but have gained 4 lbs back since my May 2nd surgery. Is this normal?

I await a reply.

Thank you.

Marianne

Yes its normal. Some people dont loose any or much until they get the "right" fill. I say that becuase everyone is different. It may take a few adjustments + or - to find what works best for you. I wouldnt go out and "try" foods that you shouldnt be eating now it may set you up for more gaining. Keep it healthy and always protien first. I have been at the 220 mark for about 12 days now. Sometimes I am 223 or sometimes just 220. I had my operation on the 1st of April. I did weigh 240. On May 8th I had 1cc put in. I can still eat too much so I need another fill. I have never slimmed or PB'd. Also, start some areobic activity is you havent already. Keep the calories under control and not too much sodium. No more than I cup of food total per meal. Better yet ask your nutritionist.

hi, welcome to LBT.

it is possible, you will be hungry before you are properly restricted, but there are a few people who are OK with the restriction the actual band gives you and swelling of your stomach.

a lot of people do gain a few pounds while on full liquids/mushies, dont let it be too big of a concern for you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
