I am doing well. I had my 1st fill on Monday..... It was ok, no pain. But no restriction yet either.

I heard there is a lot of hoops to jump through for Group Health..... was that the case for you?

yeah kinda ,I started the whole process in Dec'07. Had to do lots of different test bloodwork, upper GI, chest x-rays,breathing tests, then speak to a physc Dr,then a food Dr. Now I have to go to a 4 hour orientation, Then I go to meet the actual Dr. WOW I guess that was a lot of stuff.

Glad you are doing good and thanks for the reply...you have lost a lot alreadyIm routing for you!

I had to do all that stuff too. I heard GH makes you do 6 months of supervised diet a program.

Well your day will be awesome. Where will you be having it done? What Dr.?

I don't have to do a 6 month diet thing, just the 2 months before. something to do with the liver.

I am going to the new GH they just built by Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. My Doctor is Dr. Bock I have not yet met him I hope he is a nice guy.

Hi,

I'm still in the planning stage but am thinking about it night and day. I'm trying to get in to see my regular doc to help me with paperwork. I'm 5'4, 230 pounds, type II Diabetic, recent BC survivor and know I have to have this done. I'm covered under my hubby's 1st choice but have no idea what they pay. Can you reccomend a doc. in Seatle, Edmonds, Bellevue area? I'm looking at differnet sites but I don't want to just pick one that way.

Kat

Shome - Congratulations on such a good weight loss in so short a time. What is the secret? A good friend of mine had GBS with Dr. Oh in Federal Way. He did a great job and she's very happy about her decision. Her surgery was in June.

I'm going to Dr. Alperovich in Renton for my lapband. He has a great reputation and has a very nice bedside manner.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
