I just got my FMLA paperwork done by my surgeon today and my restrictions are no lifting over 10 lbs for one week. Then, no lifting more than 35 lbs. for 8 weeks. As for driving I'm sure that you are not supposed to drive when you are on heavy duty pain meds, but as long as you are not on those I dont see why you couldnt drive. Of course, it would be best to check with your doc to make sure.

I was banded 5/7. I was told not to lift more then 15 pounds, but that restriction was lifted today by a visit to the Dr. He said listen to my body and if it hurts or feels too much, don't do it. As for driving, I was only told I could drive as long as I was not on the narcotic pain medication I was given. I never took it at all, but still took about 4 days before I went anywhere. I was doing housework the day I came home, within the 15 pound restriction, and back to work after 7 days with no problem. I've heard other stories, but it can be that easy. Some fly to Mexico to self pay and fly home the next day! THAT amazes me. If your anything like me, you will be fine, and probably will only need to skip a weekend or 2 with the grandkids (alone, anyway) Good luck!!!

My surgeon said don't lift anything heavier than 15 lbs for six weeks--he's worried about slippage until everything heals in there.

My post-op instructions say no lifting over 5 pounds for two weeks, and no driving for two weeks.

I plan to have one of the other officers carry my files if I have a lot of cases in Court, so that I don't have to carry them.

My daughter just got her license, so she'll be my chauffeur.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
