A few moments of whining and whinging

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty good at keeping my head straight, thinking the good thoughts etc. However, I've just spent the night in a state of existentialist despair, and I'm still feeling pretty bleak.

My mother in law died recently. I loved her dearly and still miss her very much. As much as I liked and enjoyed her, though, I still am amazed at the wing-nut children she raised. My husband is like the designated driver of the family, he just doesn't sleep while the rest are sociopaths. One sibling doesn't speak to anybody, the other two don't speak to each other, only to my husband, and there has been much bad behaviour.

I'm involved with the governance of a non profit organization. The president of the board is out of town for a couple of months, so I was talked into becoming temporary acting president. It was supposed to be an easy job, sort of holding down the fort for awhile. Well, all hell has broken loose and I'm dealing with a situation that's scary and has legal implications and I feel like I'm way over my head.

And I can add to that the house, the car, the kids kind of stuff (my car got majorly smucked among other things).

Normally I would be able to handle all this with dignity and aplomb, however, I've blown a disc in my neck. These things take time, even with the very good care I'm getting, but I'm hurting and it's making me cranky and impatient.

So there's my rant. I know that there are people on this forum that are dealing with very serious health and personal issues, and I know that it won't be too long before I can put this all in perspective and stop whining.

Thanks, you guys. And thanks for the hugs IndioGirl.

You know, Jack, that kind of does feel like me since I'm often the one taking care of things. I think things would be a crisis if I couldn't see an end in sight.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
