Please Help!! Itchy Rash 2 Weeks PRE-OP!!

I could really use some advice!

Last Wednesday 5/7; I went to my PCP about a small itchy, red, bumpy rash that started under my armpits. His diagnoses: some sort of Skin Fungi and put me on Diflucan. Well, it has now spread all over my body!! I itch from head to toe!! I've called my PCP 3 times. He finally called in Prednisone, which just stops me from taking a knife and scratching my skin off - but I'm still itchy!!

Anyway... my question is this, should I go back to my PCP tomorrow and let him continue treating me, or should I contact my surgeon and see what he thinks. I'm afraid to let my surgeon know because of the obvious, I don't want my surgery postponed - I am scheduled May 27th, and start the 2 week liquid diet on Tuesday.

Please Help... I'm sure my anxiety is not helping matters either. I'm not trying to be stupid, of course I want to be totally healthy. If I can't get rid of it in a few more days I'll have to let the surgeon know. I'm just asking for advice. Thank you

First, I would definitely let your surgeon know what is going on. Especially if you are on new medications. Secondly, I think if it were me and what my PCP prescribed me had not worked, I would probably request a referral to a dermatologist.

Hi Susan, thanks for your opinion. I did see my PCP, put me on more meds for the allergic reaction to the previous meds. So, I will need to speak to my surgeon now and take it from there. Wish me luck!

How can I delete a thread? Still new at this.. I was kind of desperate last night and would like to erase the same posting above in another forum. Thanks

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
