Fear! And I haven't even been approved.

Greetings from Sunny AZ!

I have to start off by saying that this site ROCKS! I have enjoyed all the different threads and support. Thanks to everyone!

Last night I had the craziest dream! I had been approved and was getting ready for my surgery. I had a nurse that shoved an IV in my arm and left me standing alone in a room. Then I found myself walking into another surgery that was being performed. Before you know it the nurse gave me scrubs to put on. That's the jest of it. I haven't even been approved and here I am having these crazy dreams.

I've never had any surgery of any kind. Can anyone please give me some advice? Thanks so much!

Keep up the great work!

Just Me, Brenda B.

Don't stress... it really is quite a simple same day in out procedure. It's the recovery that blows, but every body is different some get gas pains, some have port pains - some have no pain, but don't be scared. I, too, like you, joined the site before I had my surgery and found it to be good and bad - bc not all threads are positive, but don't let that sway you one way or the other - I am 18 days post op and feel good but won't lie to you and say the first 2 weeks were trying.

Welcome to the forum Brenda! What an odd dream. Ok - let's interpret it. The IV part probably indicates that you are nervous about having an IV. Don't worry - it's nothing (but you might ask if they will put it in your arm instead of in the back of your hand - less painful). Then the part where you go into surgery and have to put on scrubs....that part probably means that you are anxious about a procedure where you won't be in control and you really wish you could be one of the people in charge, instead of the patient?

Or, maybe you just had too much wine with dinner the night before! LOL!

Best of luck to you, and enjoy the forum.

Thanks so much for your interpretation! I loved it! I'm really enjoying this forum. It's the Best! Have a GREAT weekend!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
