Socializing smack dab in the middle of liquid diet!

Recommended Posts

 How can it be done? I have plans for lunch and a movie with a grlfreinds and clients - when I will be on full liquids. I don't care to disclose why I can't eat and I don't want it to be awkward with me just drinking as everyone else digs into thier meals! :)

How did you do it? Any advice on how to handle this situation would be appreicated!

Thanks!!

Can you have Soup?

Perhaps look over the menu before you go? If it's not online, some places will fax it to you.

Restaurants can be very helpful. You could call in advance and explain that you're on a special diet. But this might draw attention to it all, too.

I went out on a date on the liquid stage (with a guy I had only been seeing for 2 months)....the Soup suggestion works. Olive Garden has a soup (sorry can't remember the name) that has a few chunks - but you can easily eat the broth. When I went out with friends, I found that they were so caught up in their meals/conversation no one really noticed I was sipping broth. Each time I walked out thinking - if I survived this, then my weight loss journey will be a success! Good luck!

Yep, Soup is the answer.

But if they don't have soup -- just order some hot tea and tell them "You know, my tummy's not feeling so hot right now. I'm just in the mood for some tea."

Sounds like you'll be with your friends for a few hours if a movie is involved, so it might be good to make sure you've had a Protein shake before you go out. Otherwise you might get over-hungry, headachy and/or shaky...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
