Discouraged

Dear poor Flower.

How conflicted can this all seem when your friends are so-o-o uninformed, hurtful and unthoughtful. Flower, find better friends... like those of us here who care.

Always,

Judy

Hi this is flower thanks for all the support. The fact of the matter is that I probably have lost 300 - 400 pounds in my life BUT have always gained it back its embarrasing you feel like a failure each and every time and you are ALWAYS on a diet I am sick of it I want to lose it and take it off for GOOD I want to be normal or feel that I am normal I constantly don't want to think about how I look in relation to how I feel I want to wear nice clothes I want to feel confident I want to play with my children I hope this all works out and I love talking to all of you good luck with everything you are striving for.

Don't worry about it. Do what you need to do for you. I tend not to tell people my business as well because of the negativity that comes along with it.

Flower, please don't let what your friends say influence you against getting

the band if that's what you truly want. I had decided back in Oct 2004 that

this was what I wanted to do. I had lost 70 lbs in 2002, (by Slim Fast and WW) but found almost all of it again by late 2004. My DH knew that the Lap Band

was what I wanted to do and supported me all the way (even to point of eating

like I do now-he doesn't have band-I don't know how he does it!)

I didn't tell my co-workers until early 2005. We are all overweight (except 2 girls) and were always dieting. I think they thought "easy way out" at first

but since I have had the procedure (March 10th) they have been really supportive and have asked about it constantly.

I think alot of resistance from people is because it is so new. Everyone knows

about gastric bypass and all the problems related to that and that's what they automatically think about when bariatric surgery is mentioned. I think

as more information is out about the band, the less resistance we will encounter.

I know without a shadow of doubt, it I had not had this surgery, I would never lose it on my own and, most importantly, keep it off.

Good luck in your research and I hope you decide the band is the way to go!

Rhonda

You have to do what is right for you. Our story was a little crazy.

We waited until after surgery to tell anyone. We where going to Mexico. So you could guess how crazy they would tell us we were. When we got back we told everyone. I am a Pastor I told my church during my sermon the sunday I came back. They thought we when to mexico for our 20 year anniversary. If you could have seen there faces. It was over so it didn't matter what anyone said. We were so bless to have each other support. We had not even told our child or our parents. Some of them were upset but they got over it.

You could lose that much on Weight Watchers (and keep it off)-if you have a band with good restriction. Good restriction is the key that lets us be able to eat in a balanced way. It's so much different that "dieting" without the band.

Stop telling your friends. They don't seem to get it.

First, she's not supportive of your choice. Than she goes on to "put you in your place" by telling you in so many words "don't bother lossing weight 'cause your legs will always be fat"! I think you need to send "Miss(not) Perfect" packing.

Hi Flower. There's no figuring other people out...a co-worker of mine stayed in an abusive marriage for 20+ years. She had a terrible time and finally got rid of the creep. She also thinks that "anyone can lose weight, they just have to eat less & exercise more". Duh! Some people just don't get other people's issues, and they never will.

This band is the best thing I ever did for myself. I have been VERY selective about who I've told. No, I never did tell that woman from work.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
