I started my pre-op liquid diet today. I am scheduled for May 19 in Kansas City with Dr. Price. I am nervous and excited. So far, this liquid diet stinks. I know it will be better in a couple days. I think I will have to get out and take a walk to get my mind off of food. The dog is on a diet too, so it will be good for both of us.

Good for you! I am hoping to get a surgery date in the next week or so. I am starting a liquid diet on Tuesday though since I have had bronchitis for 6 weeks and such bad allergies I haven't tasted anything for at least a month. I keep wondering why I am eating at all. Oh well. I have heard a lot of people who swear by egg drop Soup run through the blender and you can mix it with the high Protein chicken broth for added Protein. Just a thought because I suspect the sweetness could get gross after a while.

Good Luck! I am sure your dog appreciates the extra walks too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
