My first fill has been post-poned!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on March 18, 2008. I had an appointment for my first fill on Monday, May 5, 2008 nand my Doc. canceled it. I have a new appointment on May 31, 2008. The cancellation has nothing to do with me but with new office procedures. I am soooooo upset. I am getting so I am very hungry and was looking forward to getting my fill and continuing with my weight loss. When I called back to complain my doctors nurse gave me a lecture about the band being a tool and talked to me about diet, exercise and drinking my Water. I told her that with out a fill the band is not a tool being used to its full capacity. On top of all of this, I was chosen by my Doc. to be in a documentary (my surgery was taped and I was interviewed). All of this is going to be on the hospitals website. He wants to complete the documentary in July. I was wondering about getting a fill someplace else or should I just wait for May 31?

I can't imagine 6 months but I'm sure the things you learned about your self are invaluable. I guess there can be many ways to look at a situation and I took a negative approach. Learning about myself and my eating habits is a scary but necessary thing. The fill is out of my hand now so I have taken a wait and see approach. No, I was not given anything for doing the video. Didn't seem like bad idea at the time time but now...... I just don't know!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
