What is your sugar # in the morning, Pre & post Lapband

Recommended Posts

Another addition to the story.... so... I haven't had a period in a few months due to not paying attention to what I was eating and blood sugars are up like never before.... I was going through that last suppering thingy.... everytime my blood sugars get out of control, this happens... SO.... I started the liver shrinking diet a few days ago as I am having surgery in a few weeks... on the 27th.... and just after 3 days of blood sugars dropping dramatically on the lsd... I finally started my period.... so I believe that having co-morbities in check and getting stress under control has SO MUCH to do with fertility in many woman, especially those who are obese... although I know this isn't true for every woman.... I have certainly found it to be true for me... hope this helps... PS.... take BC if you want to get some weight off first... pregnancies happen all the time before people are ready.... physically.

I have been a diabetic for 10 yrs. Take 3 insulins and 2000mg Metformin a day. Before pre-op, my blood sugars stayed very high...200-300. Once I started the pre-op diet, BG's dropped, sometimes even too low. Now that I have been banded for 3 wks, I take less insulins and metformin. My morning BG's are usually around 120-150. The Dietician (also a Diabetes nurse) said that's ok.

The more weight loss and exercise we do throughout our journey, will determine how quickly we can kick these meds to the curb!

Good luck!!

Yeah for you Pam! That's excellent! I am looking forward to getting off my Glyberide! My fasting blood sugars are coming down as well after 4 days on pre-op diet... but still want them lower! Down to 150ish...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
