Me again--needing encouragement

Recommended Posts

Okay gals--- I had my SECOND fill of another c.c. (2 c.c. total) last week and still no restriction. I can still eat like a truck driver. Most of the time I don't, but I did today (two parties). Although, I must say that I did eat less than I normally would have, but still too much! I am wanting the restriction so badly but it's just not there. And what if it takes to 3 c.c. or more to feel restriction? Then I won't have restriction later on, right? Don't you need an adjustment every few months or so as you lose weight? There won't be any room left in my 4 c.c band. Getting discouraged...........

Aw Kirsten, you will be fine! Now you have 2cc now and the next .2 or .4 will probably do it for you. And you CANNOT eat like a truck driver! Silly! Write down what you eat and log on to the FitDay.com place and take a real look at your intake. I'll bet you will be surprised. Yeah, you may need yet another fill to get it perfect, but I know you are doing better than you think, so chin up! And keep us updated!

I have to agree with Kathy, I've noticed a tendence to think we are waaaayyy over eating, when in fact we're actually within "normal" eating range.

As for eating like a truck driver... My friend Brenda doesn't eat a lot, but gosh, are her manners attrocious! :)

Thanks for the uplift. I need it. I am seeing Dr. Ren on Tuesday so I hope three times is a charm.

Looking at your signature Kathy-----did you get banded on Friday!?!?!?

Looking at your signature Kathy-----did you get banded on Friday!?!?!?

Yep! I did it! Thanks for noticing [shy grin] and it's going well, but it's hard to catch up on all the scoop when you have been gone for even a few days! Lots of activity on LBT!

So your gonna be fine after Tuesday, let us know how this next fill goes, will ya?

Kirsten, I had anothe fill last week too, but had to have part of it taken out before I left the doctors office because I couldn' t get Water to go down and that was at 2cc in my 4cc band. So now I'm about 1.75 and tight as a tick. I did get some popcorn to go down and stay down today. On my second fill I had to go back after 10 days and have some taken out too. I guess I'm a wuss!

Of course smoothies go down, but they're even on the tight side. I really prefer being a little looser than this. I know it takes longer to lose, but I hate pbng and it happens a lot. Isn't it amazing how 2cc effects us all so differently?

On a more positive note, I've lost a couple of pounds since Wed's fill.

Good Luck!

Hey guys-

Love to hear you all are doing great. I can not wait to be banded going for my first consultation on May 16. I am just doing a little more research and was wondering what is PBing? Can anyone tell me.

Good Luck to everyone!

Kirsten, let me tell you that as your fill increases, the amount of Fluid it takes to make a substantial difference in restriction can be tiny. The first couple of fills often don't seem to make any difference, but the day will come when you get .2 or .5 of a cc and WHAMMO, you'll have more restriction than you know what to do with. Your day is coming. :D

And "PBing" means "productive burp" which is a euphemism for "what can't go down has to come up." :)

Hi Kirsten, and all other relatively new bandsters dying for a fill (or two, or three) -

Please remember that YOU NEED TIME physically and emotionally to adjust to the changes that the band and the resulting levels of restriction bring. It can be a rude awakening (and frustrating) to go from eating normally to eating .5-1 cup of food at a sitting. I KNOW - everyone says "Bring it on!!!", and everyone thinks they are "ready" - but if you read any of these boards very long you soon become familiar with the problems people have by jumping into full-blown restriction too quickly.

Please heed this sage advice from an experienced bandster - the restriction will come, make no mistake. More importantly, though, is taking the time to learn and adjust to new ways of eating and thinking. This journey is for LIFE - literally and figuratively. Give yourselves a chance to ease into it gradually - don't give in to those desires to rush the process. This experience will be so much more joyful and enjoyable if you are able to value each step without trying to rush to the end.

Think of it as a new exercise class, or yoga. You need time for your body to become accustomed to the new moves and stretches before you can do it all - rushing will only result in pain and injury.

We are such a "RIGHT NOW" society - but the reality is, some things are better (and work better) when they come gradually.

And something I finally learned with the help of counseling:

The changes you make DON'T have to be drastic to be effective.

JMHO

Hi gals,

Yes, I usually want everything yesterday. I did get another fill and I am at 2.3 c.c. They filled my to 2.5 but I couldn't get Water down so they took out a bit. I've got to be on liquids/mushies for a few days but I think we've got it this time! Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. It really does help!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
