I *HATE* protein supplements/Jamba Juice

Recommended Posts

Ok, I admit I've only tried two. My surgeon's office gave me a sample of powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury to try (unflavored) and they told me to buy a Protein Powder at Walmart---Body Fortress.

I can't stand them. They are so completely nasty!! Am I using them wrong? I put the Unjury in juice (BIG MISTAKE!) and the Body Fortress I just mixed as directed. I couldn't get either one down.

I finally stopped at a Jamba Juice and got a smoothie with 2 shots of whey Protein (I could taste it a little--but not as bad). So that was 20g...however I'm supposed to down at least 60g a day.

So please tell me...what supplements are worth a crap?

And I also wanted to put out there, Jamba Juice's whey protein boosts are 10g of protein each, and you can add as many as you want.

I totally agree with the nastyness of most of these drinks. I was lurking on this site (BariatricEating.com) and thought the hell with it. I gotta find SOMETHING I like or this whole LB things is not going to work. So I went out and spent way to much money on so many differant kinds. Well today I found one that was the BOMB! (I posted about it.). It was ready to drink (RTD) that tasted like choc. ice cream and I even drank it room temp. if that tells you something.

Hope that helps!

Well, considering I'm not trying to lose weight and just trying to maintain my caloric/protein needs for adequate healing, I'm ok with that:wink2:.

I don't have them every day...I've had two since surgery a week ago.

I, too, have fallen lin love with those New Whey Protein bullets!! They're so easy! I just add one to a 16oz bottle of Water (have to drink a litte out of the bottle, or pour it out), add the liquid (comes in 4 flavors- orange, fruit punch, grape, and blue raspberry), and it's wonderful! You get both your water and your protein all at once. I use the 42 gram bullets so I don't have to worry about getting in my protein for the day. Some mix it with crystal light, but I just mix mine with the water. If you want it sweet, add one packet of the pink stuff or equal or some other sweetner. I've been buying it at Vitamin Shoppe but GNC also has them.

I haven't tried them, but maybe someone here has? I was googling Protein tablets.. most of them only have 1g of protein per tablet, but this one:

Solgar - Whey To Go Protein Protein Tablets

Has 11g per tablet. Seems like a nice easy way to get your protein in.

I really like the chocolate and vanilla flavors of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I put 1/2 a scoop of each in my Decaf coffee every day. It tastes a bit like the white chocolate/vanilla mochas that I used to get pre-band. This new version has only about 100 calories, 20 g Protein compared to I don't know how many calories and no Protein.

I also really like the tropical blend flavor of K2O protein Water. That is my afternoon protein pick me up... 50 cal & 5 g protein. The rest I get from the food I eat.

Wow, this is the first time of me hearing about the liquid Protein and Protein bullets...Could anyone tell me more about it? Where can I get them, how's the taste?

Almost lost track of why I enter this thread. I checked out the Jamba juice and other smoothie store before and looked up the nutrition on them. Those smoothies are loaded with Sugars and Carbs. But if it works for you, then go for it...

I use the Body Fortress (adding only a teaspoon = 8 grams of protein) to make pudding (fat free, sugar free kind). Instead of Milk, I use Soy milk. I spoke to my nurse later and she told me that I shouldn't have pudding (I'm on pre-op) so I gave the pudding for my friend to tried. They said it tasted great!

I also use the Trader's Joe whey protein to make chicken Soup, it tastes a bit chalky, but it's okay.

Have you tried Special K Protein powder (to be added into water). It tastes delicious!

i LOVE...absolutely love my Protein shakes. Actually, i can't wait to have them once a day:thumbup:

I drink ProtiDiet (it's powder in a bottle) and i fill it with Water (if i want it in addition to my meals) or skim if i want it as a meal. It tastes good (chocolate) on its own, but i usually put either: SF Peanut Butter Syrup, or SF peppermint patty syrup (davini) or a little Peanut Butter (natural).

You can drink it right out of the bottle it comes in, but i have a travel cup/blender thingie (from amazon.com) that i put all of the ingredients in, plus ice and blend and go!

You can buy ProtiDiet on www.mydietshopz.com

I really recommend it.

I was really excited about this until I saw the calorie count on this site. I am guessing this is per pill

I'm with bozzj! I actually look forward to my mid-afternoon Protein shake--I only use low carb powder mixed in Water, gives me 26 grams of Protein, 5 grams of carbs in belgian chocolate flavor--and it tastes absolutely terrific!

You keep trying until you find the one that's right for you--we have to protect these bodies, y'know!

The site I use is www.amazon.com they have like a gazillion flavors and sizes.

Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
