Hi, I'm in NW Washington, I've been through my first appointment in December, my preop is in May and I'm scheduled for surgery May 20. Hmmm I have to say the best hints and suggestions I've found just reading, reading, reading the posts here old and new. There is a lot of great information throughout this site.

Hi there - I live in SW Washington and just recently had my lapband surgery on April 9th. I could really use some support and would love to share experiences, resources, etc. with you !

I had Lap Band Surgery in Mexico on April 15,05. It is really a different experience. I really have to watch the amount and how small I cut it up and this is probably gross for some, I wear false teeth and I have to put them in or the food dosen't get chewed well enough and boy the pain sets in for me. I love my band so far, I have lost 38 pounds and I feel some better.

Can anyone tell me who will do a fill in the Seattle area for someone who had the surgery in Mexico? I live in Olympia and they will not do it here. Thank you

I am a Patient of Dr. Fox. Dr. Srinkanth actually did my surgery. They are located in Tacoma and do fills for Mexico patients.

Thank-you for the imformation. I had to go to the emergency room this weekend and they were so rude to me because I went to Mexico for my banding.

I hope you are okay!!!! That is not only rude but unprofessional. I know someone who went to Mexico and has had absolutely no complications. However, it has been two years and she is still 25 lbs from her goal. This was due to not being able to get her fills in a timely manner and not having follow-up. She finally found a fill doctor in her area and is going to regular doctor visits and has started losing again.... just a warning Dr. Fox has a militant diet program.......I have committed myself to stay on it but it is painfully tough... He has a really really high sucess rate of wieght loss and keeping it off. Diet is 10 days pre-op clear liquid with protein....1 month clear liquid with Protein Drink starting after the first week. 2 weeks pureed 2 weeks soft....You can never have lactose no more than 6 grams of sugar per serving....AND only 1oz. of food three times a day....This way the pouch is never stretched until your done losing. I am on my thrid week of liquids and am counting down.....I just wanted to give you a warning because I think they have you meet with their diet consultant when you get a fill.

I went to Dr. Fox seminar and he made me angry. He assumed I wanted to get skinny to shop for clothes. I swear, I want to lose weight so I can breath and play with my grandkids and enjoy life. I really don't care about size. I will never be a super model!!!

My surgeon was Dr. Srikanth, from the same clinic . He is a very kind and gently doctor. I also found Dr. Fox a bit of a salesman. Dr. Fox is no longer doing surgery. His son and Dr. Srikanth are. My father has been only overweight to Obese 1 his whole life. Even though his BMI has never qualified him as morbidly obese. He has serious health issues. Heart, Diabetes type 2, multiple joint replacements. I am only 36 and I couldn't go skiing with my kids kayaking or Water skiing... My BMI was only 36 but I already have some degeneration of my knee joint. As I watch my father deteriorate at a relatively young age, I self-paid for this operation as I only had 1 co-morbidity. I really appreciate the strict structure of Dr. Fox's diet...I am using this time to get my head together about my problems with food while am losing weight. I know myself well enough that if I didn't have this follow-up structure I wouldn't succeed at this time....As I have serious food issues when I was in high school I was anerexic weighing 110 at 5'6"and now I use food by over eating. I am just done with using food for my emotional expression. His office also recommended counseling so that when I am done losing my head will be in the right place for keeping it off. I personally not only need this band but also extensive follow-up that I am getting. And at age 36 I have to honestly admit I want to look good I want to go shopping with my 4 teenage girls NOT just take them to the mall and drop them off while I go to Lane Bryant. I can't wait to get rid of that credit card!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far so good... What I try to do is stagger my Protein drinks with the food...and I probably drink 72 oz. of liquid. I'll get in about 24oz of liquid hot tea early in the morning. have a Protein Drink around 9:00a.m. have 1oz food around 11:00a.m. another 1oz of food at 1:00p.m a Protein drink around 4:00 1oz food around 6:00 p.m. lots of hot tea.

However, I've been working out more and more and am getting where I need more......so I've called the office... I think that I'll be able to have 1 oz Snacks.

Does anyone know a doctor close to Oregon that will fill patients from Mexico? It seems that the doctor that I was planning on going to when I move to Portland next week is turning into a major control freak with more requirements than the law should allow. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
