Well, after almost 2 months today was the day for my first fill.

She said they usually do 4 cc the first time(in a 14 cc band) but due to my previous problems when I was sick, she thought we should be conservative, she even said I could fore-go the fill because I was still not hungry between meals, but was eating closer to a cup.

We agreed on 1 cc, I sat there drinking my Water in the office like instructed when around 15 minutes or so it started to get “uncomfortable” to drink water, I thought it was in my head so waited a few extra minutes and then just tried swallowing my own salvia, didn’t work.

I went back into the room and she took out .5 I felt like a real baby, holy cow I must be super sensitive! So it’s been a few hours and I am sipping away, back to my lovely liquids for 2 days and then soft for 2 before I go regular again..

I am down 44 lbs though (haven’t lost anything in a few weeks) but she said I was doing fine and not to stress about not losing that at least I wasn’t gaining, I have also lost 6.5” off my waist YEA ME!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
